Minnie Mouse Birthday Bash

I did a Mickey Mouse birthday party for our son's 2nd birthday so throwing a Minnie Mouse bash for our daughter's 2nd birthday was so much fun, again! This time, we hosted it at our house and kept it small and simple. I incorporated some of my Valentine's Day decorations too since Miss T loves hearts and it was a perfect mash up!

I was nervous about making the Minnie Mouse cupcakes but I think they turned out cute and definitely set the tone for the food table. I actually spiffy-ed up the cupcakes by putting cookie dough in first before the cake batter to make a cookie bottom. I frosted with butter cream icing and then dipped the cupcake into crushed Oreos. I used two toothpick halves to support mini-Oreos as the ears. The bows were just a dollop of pink frosting in the middle. They aren't technically bows but I think they'll pass.

I also served chocolate chip cookies, strawberry cupcakes with sour cream frosting (yum!), V-Day m&m's, strawberry heart shaped marshmallows and a fruit tray (got to get some healthy in there!). We served strawberry lemonade to drink.

This tower has been such an asset for parties! I cut coordinating scrapbook paper to fit the trays and added the shape to the top. Instant, coordinating cupcake tower!

I took down our usual curtains in the dining room just leaving the sheer curtain and then hung streamers from the curtain rod. I topped it by hanging the pinata there.

I used my Cricut and Mickey Mouse cartridge to make the name banners to hang up. I had also made the heart bunting for Valentine's Day and it matched the party theme perfectly!

Birthday Goodies

Things are busy around here... thought I'd post a couple quick pictures of a couple things I did this last week for friends' parties.

A little first birthday t-shirt for an owl themed birthday party! I already had the owl print flannel so I used it as the background with a 1 out of some brown minky I had left over from a blanket.

A Mickey Mouse birthday banner for another first birthday! She's doing Mickey/Minnie Mouse so we used the Minnie Mouse colors to girlify it!

Appliquéd Birthday Shirts

I’ve made a few birthday shirts for some dear friends…. well, my dear friends’ kids. I thought I’d share real quickly. I added some jewels to the crown on the princess one – the bling around the neck was on the shirt to begin with.

 

How about a tractor for a sweet 3 year old’s birthday? The poor picture is courtesy of my phone.

Take Me Out to the Ballgame Birthday Bash

Finally! A post on Cayson’s baseball birthday party!

I am happy to report the birthday boy had a blast and promptly asked for his 4th birthday party to be basketball… and tomorrow. I’d say it’s a success when the birthday child can’t wait for their next birthday party! That’s why I put love and effort into their celebrations!

It all started with these invitations on etsy. They turned out great – I was able to print them at home on cardstock and cut them out. I loved that they were the size of real baseball tickets.

I used my handy Wilton dessert tower for cupcakes. I started out putting a baseball motif paper on it but it was just a bit too busy so I went with the grass green to reflect the feel of a baseball field. I wanted my mother-in-law’s cupcakes to POP!

I found this cute ribbon at Hobby Lobby and used hot glue to attach it to two of the layers and tried double sided glue on the other two. Both worked fine – just don’t get your hot glue too hot or it will melt the plastic. It just pops off when you’re done so no harm to the tower.

I made the baseball topper with felt, ric rac, cardboard and a popsicle stick. I hot glued it to the tower too.

The tables all sported peanuts because what is baseball without peanuts? I found these tins in the Dollar Spot at Target.

I put out a plea for baseballs on Facebook last minute and our cousin, Becky, came through with a huge bucket of them! They were perfect in this planter on the food table.

Check out this amazing cake made by mother-in-law! She is so awesome at cake decorating – and it’s a hobby for her – not even her job!

I featured a few fun favorites for baseball on the table – sunflower seeds, Double Bubble gum, and wax soda bottle candy.

The party favors included Cracker Jacks, mini-water bomb baseballs (Dollar Tree), baseball rubber ducks, baseball tattoos, wax bottle candy (all Oriental Trading Co).

Popcorn!

The baseball bucket holding the silverware and napkins was actually an Easter basket from the Dollar Tree. It worked perfect because we have to keep the napkins weighted down in the Oklahoma wind.

I found the hot dog trays on eBay to add some baseball nostalgia.

The table got a bit crowded once the hotdogs made it there. AND, the tablecloth is so wrinkled. The weather was not cooperating so I kept taking it out, then it would start sprinkling, so I’d bring it in… I should have ironed it again, I suppose.

The pinata was such a hit… literally with the kiddos. I got it from Oriental Trading but noticed Target has them too.

Thanks to Twitter, I ran across Deena's blog today and saw this neat thing she made for her hubby's birthday... funny, I know! I was thinking these would make perfect centerpieces for the tot's birthday! What do you think?

Thanks for all the sweet comments about my sick little boy. He's much, much better now! He did "share" his sickness with his loving mama, but I think I am on the mend. Hopefully, we didn't "share" with Daddy.
