Okay, not quite like this... it was all put together (ugly picture in frame)... I just forgot to take a before photo (imagine that!). Anyway, the framed art came from the thrift store. I painted the frame and distressed it, had the hubby cut me some sheet metal, painted it with chalkboard paint, mounted it, and here you have it! How's that for a quick tutorial? I used a paint marker to do the top - not quite sure I like it so I left the second one blank... I am thinking a cute pattern would be perfect though. I'm going to make a few more so I'll do some practice to figure it out.
For the second one, I bought the frame at Hobby Lobby and then did all of the above.
I also wanted to put a wide black & white gingham ribbon on them, but didn't have any. Boo! I wrapped these up with marble magnets I made and tied some chalk up with ribbon. It is a fairly easy project - I just waited until the last minute to put it all together and started stressing over the details! I can't wait to make more and figure out ways to glam them up!
They are great! I have been meaning to do something similar (just like about 50 other projects!) for awhile now. Where did you find the sheet metal?! I couldn't find any, so at least I have an excuse with this project. ;) My plan is to cover the sheet metal in some pretty fabric. I am hoping that won't interfere with the magnetism of it too much...
ReplyDeleteNow those are cute!!
ReplyDeleteUm, wow. You are inspirational! I always try to think of crafty things to do...But, my brain just doesn't work that way.

ReplyDeleteI love this blog! There are so many fun crafts I want to try. Maybe after the baby gets here... I'm so glad you shared this with us. You're a regular Martha Stewart! Maybe we can have a crafting day at some point this summer. We'll let the girls entertain Cayson. :)
