15 Minute Message Board

I got the idea for this message board somewhere in bloggy land though I cannot remember where! If you know, please post the link so I can link it up!

Seriously, this took 15 minutes to make! I had this huge frame that I picked up at a garage sale for $1. I marked the back every 4” down on either side and then stapled twine across the back. I used two staples on each side and pulled the twine as tightly as possible.

I had this burlap monogram so I actually used twine to attach it at the top for a little something extra.

Now I have the perfect place to display my recipes for the week and frequently used recipes along with Cayson’s artwork.

I used mini clothespins that I already had – they’re spray painted black.

I’m so excited because this takes up my large wall in my kitchen and I didn’t spend a dime today to make it – it was all things I had!

My other idea for this is to hang black & white photos on it... you could easily change them out!

Burlap Monogram

I’m working on cozying up my kitchen and making a few little changes – including this chalkboard!

I had two of these apple wood things hanging in my kitchen… they’ve been there since we moved in (6+ years!) IMG_5939

I painted the plaque because the pattern does show through the burlap. IMG_5947 I did use my Cricut to cut out the j on freezer paper. I put it on the cutting mat, shiny side up and then used the flip image feature to flip the j.

You don’t need a Cricut for this project! You can print out your pattern on your printer and then trace it onto the freezer paper and cut out using an X-Acto knife. I’ve done this before an it’s quite simple. It’s also great because you have access to a lot more fonts just with Word.  IMG_5943

I ironed the freezer paper, shiny side down to the burlap. Be sure to empty the water reservoir. Then I just painted the stencil. IMG_5945

Peel off the freezer paper once the paint dries.

I stretched the burlap over my plaque attempting to center the design and then stapled it in place. I had to add a wall hanger to the back since it had previously hung horizontally. crafts 002

I have another similar project but on a larger scale that I am going to attempt! So stay tuned!

25 Cent Frame Makeover

Remember this picture frame? I bought it for a quarter at a garage sale and figured it would make a great chalkboard for my kitchen.

Garage Sale 001 I finally finished the project and now have a magnetic chalkboard for my kitchen.

My sweet hubby cut a piece of sheet metal for me to prime and paint with chalkboard paint. Now we have a great spot for writing sweet nothings… or grocery lists.

Shadow Box & a Little Sign

I have so many projects going on at once right now! I do have a couple small completed projects to show. I've had this shadow box for years that I've been meaning to put together. I finally got the photo, stars and label put in it. I don't know why it took me so long to do? It was simple and easy! Looking at this - I'm ready to pack my bags for Hawaii! Love, love, love that place! (Can you tell I'm 5 weeks pregnant in this pic? Ha ha! I didn't know either! ) I made a reversible sign for the dining room with one of the Dollar Tree boards. I painted one side light green with the french word and fleur-de-lis.
The second side is chalkboard - I wrote myself a reminder for the day!

So, a couple projects down, many to go! My Cricut Expression came in yesterday so I'm antsy to try it out.

I LOVE my pottery!!!

I want to show you some of my favorite things - white & cream pottery. I'm always on the lookout for more pieces. Most of my pieces were given to me by a dear friend's mom. How sweet is that? I just love them!!!

Three pitchers from Crate & Barrel that I bought on clearance.

Another pitcher from Crate & Barrel, a milk glass bowl from the thrift store and the white plate from who knows where.

A few vases!

I show off most of my pieces on top of my cabinets.
I love this little pot!
